General informations
The Germany National Committee within the ICTM International Council for Traditional Music (UNESCO/NGO) consist of German and foreign members as well as those members who have (temporarily) their residence in Germany. The Germany National Committee has about 145 active individual members who explore researching the traditional music and dance in many European and non-European countries.
The Presidium of the National Committee of Germany consists of the Chair Dr. Dorit Klebe, the Vice Chair Dr. Edda Brandes and the Vice Chair Prof. Dr. Klaus Näumann. The Presidium invites once a year all members to take part in an Ordinary Assembly respectively every two years to a General Assembly to be held in Germany in the context of a scientific Symposium at different universities. In each meeting the members either can give papers in regard to the conference theme or take the symposium’s opportunity to present their latest research results for discussion. The meetings also serve to strengthen contacts between the members at the national level and more generally to stimulate scientific discourse among members. Depending on the conference theme and occasion for the conference scientists from neighboring countries also take part.
Results of the meetings were and will be published in conference proceedings. In addition to the printed editions, articles of the reports of the Germany National Committee of ICTM), edited by Marianne Bröcker and published in Bamberg 1992-2004, are available in an increasing number in the document server “ViFaMusik” since the summer 2014. The ViFaMusik, the Virtual Library of Musicology, is a database of experts with thematic portals of the Bavarian State Library.
