The aims of the ICTM are to further the study, practice, documentation, preservation and dissemination of traditional music, including folk, popular, classical and urban music, and dance of all countries.

The ICTM is an NGO (non-governmental organization) in formal consultative relations with UNESCO.

Unfortunately our Programme Chair Jonathan Stock is ill and Wim van Zanten has taken over as Acting Programme Chair for the ICTM conference in Durban, 1-8 July 2009. Please, direct all correspondence concerning the programme to him:
