Abstract: English Summary. The Lapp song, or yoik, is a short, spontaneous and largely improvised song, whose themes deal either with nature or human beings. The author studies the use of the yoik in the social life of Kautokeino Lapps of Norway. He describes its psychological (linking the yoiks with feelings of joy and nostalgia) and social aspects, the process of creation and diffusion, the possibilities of transformation, and interdictions. Finally, he deals with the results of recent cultural evolution upon the yoiks.
