The Study Group was founded in 1985 . We are holding small meetings about every other year to which selected members of the ICTM and colleagues from related disciplines (museology, art history, ethnology, language and literature, area studies) are invited. Abstracts are published in advance. The booklets with the abstracts of previous meetings can be ordered at the address above by sending us 5 US$ or 60 ATS. Some papers have appeared in revised form in volumes of Imago Musicae. Reports of our meetings can be found in the Bulletin of the ICTM.

In addition to these meetings we also convene for work sessions at the international congresses of the ICTM.
